Siltation is the major concern in the freshwater systems residing in the tropical region. The precise characterization of the sediment type is critical for initiating any de-siltation effort or even to ascertain the siltation process for introducing any preventive measures. In this work, we carried out surface sediment characterization at Khadakwasala Lake using the analytical data acquired by using Edgetech SB216S sub-bottom profiler. This paper presents validation of two model-based techniques viz. energy model and central frequency shift model to characterize the surface sediment at Khadakwasala Lake.

The Indian Ocean Region (IOR) today is arguably the most strategically important sea area globally. Being the focal point of maritime trade and a Geo-political hot-spot, the IOR is the transit point of maximum number of military and merchant fleets. The high volume of maritime traffic also translates to high levels of low frequency anthropogenic noise that are primary cause of acoustic habitat degradation for the big whales. The frequent stranding of such species in the recent past is a testimony of high ambient noise in the region. The lack of awareness among the stakeholders and the policy makers on the impact of acoustic habitat degradation and sustainable growth in the maritime domain is a cause of serious concern. The quantitative and qualitative assessment of the acoustic habitat degradation is a major step in any conservation initiative. In this work, our aim is to perform mapping of low frequency ambient noise over a selected Indian Ocean Region.

This paper addresses the significance and role of documentation in museums and institutions in safeguarding their traditional methods of documentation and effective strategies to eradicate the upcoming challenge’s faced by them in documentation.This paper tries to highlight the deviant and respective documentation strategies of institution at regional level, adopted to organize their collection in a structured form, stimulating the significance of each object and preserving the heritage. The paper will examine in detail all aspects of documentation and how and evolutionary element or policy would benefit the collection which would eventually leave an indelible mark on minds of viewers. A case study conducted in a regional museum will be taken up to critically evaluate the intricacies involved in documentation and to analysis the different phases of the documentation policy. This analysis of the institution will help in the better functioning of the documentation at the regional level.The paper focuses on merits and demerits of documentation policy methods adopted by the institution. Further, the institution will be evaluated on the basis of documentation policy adopted by them.
